Singapore, April 4, 2017 – The symposium on Industrie 4.0 organised by the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) took place today at Mandarin Orchard. It served as a platform for German delegates to present their technology and exchange information on the manufacturing environment of Singapore with local experts.
During the symposium, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)’s School of Engineering and the Singapore campus of Germany’s top engineering university – Technical University of Munich (TUM), was signed with the objective to raise global engineering standards. One of the scopes includes the research on process optimisation in 3D metal printing. Findings for the advanced technology will benefit users worldwide.
The ceremony was witnessed by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry. Students and staff from both institutes will have opportunities for exchange programmes. The partners are also planning executive training courses, seminars and conferences for industry.
