APPLYING FOR MASTERS

TUM Asia accepts a single intake for our Master of Science programmes, with the course commencement in August each year. To apply for the programmes, you are required to start your application on our Online Application Portal. Application for our Master programmes open from 1 October to 31 March every year. 

MSc APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Submit Online Application

    • Submit your online application (with softcopy application documents) through our Online Application Portal.
    • Make the payment of the processing fee (SGD 109*, after GST). *All fees quoted are in Singapore dollars and are inclusive of the prevailing Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate imposed under the Singapore GST Act. The processing fee is also subject to revision due to change in GST rates. GST rate is adjusted to 9% starting from 1 January 2024.

2. Assessment and Application Results (minimum 4 to 8 weeks)

    • We will check through your application and the uploaded softcopy documents.
    • The result of your application will typically be communicated to you via email between 4 – 8 weeks after the screening process is completed.
    • In some instances, the process may take longer than 8 weeks, but rest assured that we will notify you on the outcome of your application.
    • We can only consider your application if you upload all required documents and submit the complete application within the application period.
    • Please upload all required softcopy documents to into the Online Application Portal before the end of the application deadline. Documents submitted via email cannot be processed.
    • Please refrain from asking about the status of your application before 4 weeks are up. Different applications may take different amounts of time for screening, so please do not compare your application status with that of another applicant.

3. Submit Notarised Hardcopy Documents

        • You do not have to submit any hardcopies until your application has been reviewed and you have received an offer of admission from us
        • If you have received an offer of admission, you are required to submit to TUM Asia the following:
          • A signed printout of the Offer of Admission (Official and Student copy) and Student Agreement Form
          • All mandatory hardcopy documents and notarised academic documents
          • Signed application form
        • If we have informed you to mail your signed offer and notarised hardcopy application documents to us, you may mail them to:-

        • Do not mail any documents to us if we have not told you to. We do not return any documents submitted to us under any circumstances.

4. Scholarship Results (from April – June)

        • To qualify for the consideration of the MSc Scholarships, applicants must be offered admissions into the MSc programmes before 31 March of the current intake. Scholarship applications with essay submissions must be sent in by 31 March of the current intake.

        • Successful applicant(s) will be informed accordingly by the TUM Asia Office of Admission between the months of April and June of the current intake.

LIST OF SUPPORTING SOFTCOPY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION
            • Submit 1 copy of Official or Provisional Bachelor Degree Certificate (For originals, the document must bear an original round seal; and non-originals, the document must be in a notarised copy format)^
            • Submit 1 copy of Official or Provisional Academic Transcript (For originals, the document must bear an original round seal; and non-originals, the document must be in a notarised copy format.)^
              • Your submitted transcript must include the credits/grading system of your university:
                min. passing score (e.g. 50 out of 100);
                max. possible score (e.g. 100 out of 100); and
                the equivalent score/range of scores for each grade (e.g. ‘A’ grade is equivalent to a score of 90 to 100).
                ^Please do not mail any documents to us if we do not tell you to. We do not return any hardcopy documents that are submitted to us.
            • Submit the Module Descriptions of all the modules you have taken in your Transcript, as found in your curriculum document or syllabus handbook (only applicable for MSc in Aerospace Engineering applications and only required in softcopy format)
            • Submit 2 Recommendation Letters from 2 different Professors or Employers (only applicable for MSc in Green Electronics, MSc in Integrated Circuit Design and MSc in Industrial Chemistry applications)
                • You will have to contact your recommenders to submit recommendation letters for your application. We will not be informing the recommenders to submit recommendation letters for you. Your recommenders may choose to send the letters to you so you can upload them into the portal. However, if they are not comfortable with doing that, they may send the letters to admission@tum-asia.edu.sg, quoting your name and application number in the email, so we can identify that these letters are for you.
            • Submit 1 Statement of Purpose that indicates the reason(s) you are interested in the programme you applied for
            • Submit 1 Curriculum Vitae/Resume
            • Submit 1 Passport-sized photograph
            • Submit 1 Passport Biodata Page photocopy (the Passport page that contains your personal particulars)
            • Akademische Prufstelle (APS) Certificate (Required for all applicants who hold a degree from China, India or Vietnam). For more information, please refer to:

                • APS Vietnam
            • Proof of English Proficiency – TOEFL or IELTS (Required for applicants whose native tongue or medium of instruction from previous studies is not in English)
      Requirements for TOEFL Minimum 88 (TOEFL Institute Code: German Institute of Science and Technology – TUM Asia (Singapore), DI Code:7368)
      Requirements for IELTS Overall IELTS result of minimum 6.5
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
          • Documents that are not in English must be translated by a sworn translator before submission.
          • Applicants for our Master programmes need not submit GRE or GATE results. If the medium of instruction for your Bachelor degree is in English, you do not need to submit your TOEFL or IELTS result as well.
          • Iranian degrees and and transcripts must be legalised by the German Embassy in Tehran.

    For MSc in Green Electronics, MSc in Integrated Circuit Design and MSc in Industrial Chemistry applications:

    All applicants are required to submit an additional of 3 certified-true copies of Official or Provisional Bachelor Degree Certificate and Official or Provisional Academic Transcript and additional 3 passport-sized photographs when you have accepted the offer of admissions and are being matriculated into our programme.

    For MSc in Aerospace Engineering and MSc in Rail, Transport and Logistics applications:

    All applicants are required to submit an additional of 2 certified-true copies of Official or Provisional Bachelor Degree Certificate and Official or Provisional Academic Transcript and additional 2 passport-sized photographs when you have accepted the offer of admissions and are being matriculated into our programme.

Method of payment

PayPal
This is a credit card payment process. Once you submit the online application, a menu to pay the processing fee will appear. The service is hosted by PayPal (but does not require one to have a PayPal account) and works like a regular internet credit card payment/online payment option.

Early Bird Privilege

Eligibility Criteria:

          • The Early Bird Privilege (EBP) is a 20% deduction off the 1st Instalment Tuition Fees only.
          • The EBP is applicable to enrolled students to the TUM Asia Master of Science Programmes only.
          • The completed online application via our Online Application Portal must be submitted and the processing fee must be paid by 15 January 2024 before 2359h (Singapore Time) in order to qualify.
          • The applicant must be accepted and enrolled into the programme in order for the EBP to be in effect.

Terms & Conditions of EBP:

          • If the applicant is eligible for the EBP, the deduction of the fees will be reflected in the Offer of Admission, which will be issued to the applicant upon acceptance into the programme.
          • The EBP applies for the Academic Year 2024/25 intake only.
