FAQ

The programmes at TUM Asia are taught entirely in English, and knowledge of the German language is not required for enrolled students.

No, English is the language of instruction for all Bachelor programmes at TUM Asia. While knowledge of basic conversational German is not required, it may be beneficial for students when completing their Bachelor’s Thesis in Munich, Germany. We recommend that students who plan to pursue a career, internship, or research assistantship in Germany to learn German, as it could enhance their experience and opportunities. However, proficiency in German is not a requirement for any TUM Asia programmes.

Most of the professors are from TUM, Germany. For joint degree programmes, certain modules will also be taught by professors from our partner universities. As the Bachelor degrees are offered in collaboration with SIT, you can expect professors from SIT to teach some of the modules as well.

Students are required to sign in for class attendance. We strongly discourage intentionally skipping classes, as it can negatively impact your learning and academic progress.

For Bachelor programmes, classes and laboratory sessions will be conducted at our campus. Some lab sessions may also take place at TUMCREATE or other facilities within SIT.

To apply for the TUM Bachelor programmes offered at TUM Asia, applicants must submit their application through our partner university via the SIT Admissions Portal. For the most up-to-date details on application timelines, kindly refer to the SIT website.

Please refer to the individual programme page for more details.
You are allowed to apply at any time before or during your National Service (NS) period. If your application is successful, you can defer your course commencement date under the “Returning NSmen” scheme. Please note that this option is currently only available to male students and is not applicable to females who choose to serve NS.
SAT, IELTS, and/or TOEFL results will not be required for admission to our Bachelor’s degree programmes if the medium of instruction for your pre-university studies was in English.

For the Bachelor’s degree programmes, students with articulated diplomas are exempt from the mandatory industrial attachment/internship. However, students enrolled in the full 4-year course are required to complete an industrial attachment/internship as part of their graduation requirements.

All undergraduate students have the opportunity to spend their final semester (3 to 5 months) at TUM’s home campus in Germany, where they will complete their Bachelor’s Thesis under the supervision of TUM faculty. This experience is part of the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP).
