The city is known for its hawker centres, offering delicious, budget-friendly local dishes like laksa, chicken rice, and satay. Whether you’re craving traditional Singaporean flavours or international fare, there’s something for every taste and budget.

Finding Accommodation in Singapore

TUM Asia does not offer on-campus hostels for international students. However, if you are enrolled in one of our joint programmes, you may have the option to ballot for rooms at NTU or NUS. Many international students prefer to find private accommodation, giving them the flexibility to choose a place that best suits their budget and living preferences.

Once you’ve accepted your offer to join TUM Asia, we’ll provide a helpful list of suggested hostels to get you started. Please note that these hostels are independent and not affiliated with TUM Asia, and arranging accommodation will be your responsibility. We strongly recommend securing your housing early, as options that are both affordable and convenient can be in high demand.

Tips for Choosing the Right Accommodation:

Consider the total cost, including rental fees, deposits, and any administrative charges or agent fees.
Make sure your accommodation is conveniently located with access to public transport, grocery shops, dining options, and essential services such as banks.
Leases typically run for a year, with landlords often requiring up to three months’ rent as a deposit. Short-term leases are available but usually come with higher costs.

The price of housing can vary based on location, type of property, size, furnishings, and amenities such as recreational facilities. Housing closer to the city is generally more expensive.

Finally, remember that any rental agreement is strictly between you and the property owner or hostel management. Take the time to review your contract carefully before making a commitment!
