Assoc. Prof. Suresh Valiyaveettil

ACADEMIC CAREER AND RESEARCH AREAS

Professor Valiyaveettil’s research focuses on the synthesis, characterisation and application of functional polymers and nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. His group develops novel perylene dyes, fluorescent particles and functional polymers, including highly functional molecules capable of forming two- and three-dimensional architectures and gels. His research also explores nanomaterial safety and toxicity, particularly the uptake, interactions and translocation of nanomaterials and nanoplastic particles within living systems. In addition, Professor Valiyaveettil investigates microplastics, cellulose-based fibres and membranes for water purification, as well as the circularity and sustainability of materials.
