FAQ
Does TUM Asia provide internship placement?
No, TUM Asia does not guarantee internship placement in any company or institution for internships. It is the responsibility of students to actively search for suitable internship opportunities. While TUM Asia provides support and guidance, such as assistance during the search and advice during internship briefings, students are ultimately expected to take the lead in finding internships that align with their interests and career goals.
Students who hold Industrial Scholarships typically complete their internships with their sponsor company, though the details are negotiated directly between the student and the company.
What types of internships are available and will it be done in Singapore or Germany?
A TUM degree is globally recognised, giving students the flexibility to pursue internship opportunities anywhere in the world. Whether in Singapore, Germany, or another country, students can choose internships at universities, research institutions, or companies, depending on their interests and the opportunities available. These internships may involve research projects with a professor or practical industry experience.
Companies or institutions may offer a monthly stipend, which will be determined through direct negotiation between the student and the employer. TUM Asia does not participate in these negotiations, so students are advised to be transparent, responsible, and prudent in their decisions to accept or decline offers. We encourage all students to maintain professionalism and integrity, upholding their commitments and acting in good faith with their employers.
Can students in the Master’s or Bachelor’s programmes request not to do internships?
All Master’s students must complete a three to four month internship as part of their graduation requirements.
For Bachelor’s students, those with articulated diplomas are not required to undertake an internship. However, students holding non-articulated diplomas or A-level qualifications must complete an internship to fulfil their graduation requirements.
Does TUM Asia help the graduating students look for permanent jobs?
TUM Asia does not guarantee job placements for graduates. While some graduates may receive permanent job offers from their internship companies, this decision is entirely at the discretion of the employer and is not managed or influenced by TUM Asia.
Graduating students are expected to proactively search for permanent job opportunities upon completing their studies. For support, students can request reference letters from their professors as needed. To assist in the job search process, TUM Asia organises networking sessions, Career Fairs, and company talks. Additionally, open job positions are regularly shared with our graduates and alumni to help connect them with potential employers.
