Graduate Studies Requirements

General Requirement

  • The basic admission requirements for all our Master programmes include holding a Bachelor’s degree (with a programme duration of at least three years, depending on your education background) in a closely related discipline, with at least Upper Second-class Honours or an equivalent qualification.
  • You must also complete your Bachelor’s degree programme with no pending examination results on or before 30 June of the year that you are joining us, in order to be in time for enrolment.

Language Requirement

  • Applicants whose entire Bachelor’s programme was conducted in English, as clearly stated on their academic transcript or degree certificate, are not required to submit additional proof of English proficiency.
  • For those whose transcript or certificate does not explicitly mention English as the medium of instruction, an original letter from the university, bearing the official round seal, must be provided to confirm that English was the medium of instruction for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • In cases where such a letter cannot be obtained, an English proficiency certificate is required. Applicants whose Bachelor’s programme was not entirely in English must submit a valid TOEFL score of 88 or higher for the Internet-based test, or an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5.
  • Applications submitted without the required English certificate will be accepted, but the final results will not be released until the applicant has passed the English test.
  • TOEFL and IELTS results must be no more than 2 years old at the time of your application. If your results exceed this 2-year period, you will need to retake the test.

Akademische Pruefstelle (APS) Certificate Requirement

  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from a university in China, India, or Vietnam must provide an Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) certificate for admission to a German university.
  • The APS certificate is required for your application. Failure to submit it means that while you can still apply, the final results of your application will not be released until you have passed the APS test.

For APS India applicants:

  • Final-year students or those who have not yet graduated must follow the Undergraduates with 2 Semesters Checklist, with a minimum of 2 semesters of their Bachelor’s degree.
  • Graduates who possess at least the provisional certificate and consolidated marksheets must follow the Graduates/Postgraduates Checklist.
  • The checklists via the official APS India website can also be accessed here.
  • For any uncertainties, contact our admissions team for clarification.
