How to Apply
TUM Asia admits students for one intake per year for our Master of Science programmes (admissions open from 1 October), with the academic year typically commencing in August.
Before submitting your application, please ensure that you meet the admission requirements for the specific programme you are applying to.

Step-by-Step Application Guide
Submit Online Application
- Submit your online application (with soft copy documents) via our Online Application Portal.
- Pay the non-refundable application processing fee of SGD 109 (inclusive of prevailing GST*)
*All fees are quoted in Singapore Dollars and are subject to the prevailing Goods and Services Tax (GST) as stipulated under the Singapore GST Act.
Assessment and Application Outcomes
- We will review your application and the uploaded supporting documents. The outcome of your application will typically be communicated via email within 4 to 8 weeks after the screening process is completed.
- In some cases, the evaluation may take longer than 8 weeks. Rest assured, you will be notified once a decision has been made.
- Your application will only be considered if all required documents are uploaded and the complete application is submitted within the application period.
- All required documents must be uploaded via the Online Application Portal before the application deadline. Documents submitted via email will not be processed.
- Please refrain from inquiring about your application status within the first 4 weeks after submission. Each application is evaluated individually, and processing times may vary. We kindly ask that you do not compare your application status with others, as differences in timelines are normal and expected.
Submit Notarised Scanned Documents
If you have received an Offer of Admission, you are required to complete the following steps:
- Upload the signed Offer of Admission (both Official and Student Copies) and the Student Agreement Form to the Online Admission Portal.
- Email the following to TUM Asia:
- All required softcopy documents
- Notarised academic documents
- The signed application form
Please note the following important points:
- The requirements for softcopy documents are strict. You must ensure that all items listed in your application checklist are submitted in the correct format.
- Do not mail any physical documents to us unless explicitly instructed to do so.
- Documents submitted to us will not be returned under any circumstances.
Scholarship Results
To be considered for the MSc Scholarships, applicants must submit their scholarship application together with their MSc programme application by the respective application deadline.

Required Documents
List of supporting softcopy documents required for application
- Submit 1 copy of Official or Provisional Bachelor Degree Certificate (For originals, the document must bear an original round seal; and non-originals, the document must be in a notarised copy format)^
- Submit 1 copy of Official or Provisional Academic Transcript (For originals, the document must bear an original round seal; and non-originals, the document must be in a notarised copy format.)^
- Your submitted transcript must include the credits/grading system of your university:
– min. passing score (e.g. 50 out of 100);
– max. possible score (e.g. 100 out of 100); and
– the equivalent score/range of scores for each grade (e.g. ‘A’ grade is equivalent to a score of 90 to 100).
^Please do not mail any documents to us if we do not tell you to. We do not return any hardcopy documents that are submitted to us.
- Your submitted transcript must include the credits/grading system of your university:
- Submit the Module Descriptions of all the modules you have taken in your Transcript, as found in your curriculum document or syllabus handbook (only applicable for MSc in Aerospace Engineering applications and only required in softcopy format)
- Submit 2 Recommendation Letters from 2 different Professors or Employers (only applicable for MSc in Green Electronics, MSc in Integrated Circuit Design and MSc in Industrial Chemistry applications)
- You will have to contact your recommenders to submit recommendation letters for your application. We will not be informing the recommenders to submit recommendation letters for you. Your recommenders may choose to send the letters to you so you can upload them into the portal. However, if they are not comfortable with doing that, they may send the letters to admission@tum-asia.edu.sg, quoting your name and application number in the email, so we can identify that these letters are for you.
- Submit 1 Statement of Purpose that indicates the reason(s) you are interested in the programme you applied for
- Submit 1 Curriculum Vitae/Resume
- Submit 1 Passport-sized photograph
- Submit 1 Passport Biodata Page photocopy (the Passport page that contains your personal particulars)
- Akademische Prufstelle (APS) Certificate (Required for all applicants who hold a degree from China, India or Vietnam). For more information, please refer to:

- APS Vietnam
- Proof of English Proficiency – TOEFL or IELTS (Required for applicants whose native tongue or medium of instruction from previous studies is not in English)
- Requirements for TOEFL: Minimum 88 (TOEFL Institute Code: German Institute of Science and Technology – TUM Asia (Singapore), DI Code:7368)
- Requirements for IELTS: Overall IELTS result of minimum 6.5
Other important information
- Documents that are not in English must be translated by a sworn translator before submission.
- Applicants for our Master programmes need not submit GRE or GATE results. If the medium of instruction for your Bachelor degree is in English, you do not need to submit your TOEFL or IELTS result as well.
- Iranian degrees and and transcripts must be legalised by the German Embassy in Tehran.
When to email your notarised softcopy documents upon accepting admission offer
- If you have received an offer of admission, you are required to email the following documents to TUM Asia:
- All mandatory notarised documents
- Signed application form
- Please do not mail any documents to us if we do not tell you to. We do not return any documents submitted to us.
Processing Fee
PayPal (Credit/Debit Card)
Once your application is submitted, a payment option will appear to cover the processing fee. The service is hosted by PayPal, but a PayPal account is not required. You can make a payment using your credit or debit card, just like a regular online payment. If you prefer not to create a PayPal account, simply select ‘Checkout as Guest’.
Early Bird Privilege
Eligibility criteria
The EBP is applicable to enrolled students to the TUM Asia Master of Science Programmes only.
The completed online application via our Online Application Portal must be submitted and the processing fee must be paid by 31 December 2024 before 2359h (Singapore Time) in order to qualify.
The applicant must be admitted and enrolled into the programme in order for the EBP to be in effect.
Terms and conditions
- If the applicant is eligible for the EBP, the deduction of the fees will be reflected in the Offer of Admission, which will be issued to the applicant upon acceptance into the programme.
- The EBP applies for the Academic Year 2025/26 intake only.
