Technical University of Munich (TUM) Asia has established its Industrial Advisory Board (IAB), comprising a distinguished group of senior leaders from the engineering, technology, mobility, and industrial sectors. The IAB has been formed to support the institution’s next phase of growth and transformation, as it approaches its 25th anniversary of establishment in Singapore in 2027.

The Industrial Advisory Board brings together executives with deep industry expertise and regional leadership experience. Through industry-led insights and strategic guidance, the IAB will help ensure that the institution’s education, research, and partnerships remain closely aligned with evolving industry needs, technological change, and workforce requirements in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.

The formation of the IAB reflects TUM Asia’s long-standing commitment to Singapore’s education and innovation ecosystem. Over more than two decades, the institution has worked closely with industry partners to deliver applied, industry-relevant education and to develop talent that contributes to Singapore’s economic growth and competitiveness. Establishing the Industrial Advisory Board marks a strategic step to further strengthen industry engagement and to future-proof the institution’s offerings for the years ahead.

The Industrial Advisory Board will provide guidance across key areas, including:

  • Emerging industry and technology trends shaping future skills
  • Curriculum relevance and industry-aligned competencies
  • Applied research and industry-academia collaboration
  • Regional engagement and growth opportunities across Asia-Pacific

The IAB convened for its inaugural meeting on 2 February 2026, where members discussed strategic priorities and industry perspectives to guide the institution’s next phase of growth.

“As we approach 25 years in Singapore, we are deeply conscious of the responsibility that comes with longevity. The Industrial Advisory board allows us to listen more closely to industry, and ensure that what we do today continues to prepare future-ready talent and support Singapore’s long-term growth,” said Dr. Markus Wächter, Vice President TUM Asia, TUM and Executive Director, TUM Asia

“EDB is pleased to join TUM Asia’s Industrial Advisory Board in Singapore. This will help foster stronger collaboration between TUM Asia and Singapore-based enterprises in R&D and innovation, and develop STEM talent for Singapore’s advanced manufacturing sectors,” said Mr. Dino Tan, Senior Vice President and Head of Europe, Singapore Economic Development Board.

As part of its broader regional strategy, the Industrial Advisory Board will also support TUM Asia’s role as a bridge between Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, strengthening cross-border collaboration, talent pipelines, and industry partnerships. This initiative reinforces the institution’s position as a trusted partner to industry and a contributor to Singapore’s future-ready workforce and innovation landscape.
