2016 TUM ASIA SUMMER SCHOOL

Looking for an educational programme to spend your summer holiday with? Then join us at the annual TUM Asia Summer School, which is designed for students who are interested to gain in-depth understanding of technical topics in Aerospace, Chemistry, Electronics or Logistics.

This two-week intensive programme offers a combination of technical modules, soft skills modules, site visits and cultural activities that will definitely provide the students with a holistic educational experience.

CHEMISTRY

“Modern Research in Molecular Science” Summer School Programme

Duration: 11 to 22 July 2016 (2 weeks)

Location: Singapore, TUM Asia

Entry Requirements: Have completed 2nd year of university studies in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry by June 2016

Programme Fee:
Tuition Fees: S$1,600 (inclusive of 7% GST)
Accommodation*: S$600 (inclusive of 7% GST) *Optional

Programme Structure:

  • 36 contact hours per course
  • Limited to 40 students per programme
  • Students will receive certificate of completion

This summer school programme titled “Modern Research in Molecular Science” will include the following technical and non-technical modules:-

  • Applied Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalyses
  • Electrochemistry & New Materials for Lithim/Sodium-based Energy Storage Systems
  • The Development of Batteries
  • Ionic Liquids: Solvent or Catalyst
  • Green Chemistry
  • Polymeric Membrane and Its Application: From a Chemistry Perspective
  • Biochemistry for Industrial Chemists
  • Biomedicinal Chemistry
  • Career Essentials

WHO CAN APPLY

We welcome all local and international university students to apply. You will need to have:

  • Minimum 2 years of studies completed by June 2016 in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
  • Students from non-English-medium institutions must fulfil at least one of the following:
    •  TOEFL score of at least:
      • 550 for the paper-based test; or
      • 213 for the computer-based test; or
      • 79 for the internet-based test; or
    • IELTS result of at least 6.5
HOW TO APPLY

The following supporting documents must also be submitted with the application form.

  • Copy of the completed application form with a recent passport-size photograph attached
  • Letter from home university certifying that you are a current student registered with the university (in English)
  • Academic transcript issued by your home university. This has to be in English and endorsed with the university’s seal and official signatory
  • Copy of passport (personal data page with your photo and personal information)

The completed application form and a full set of supporting documents must be submitted to:

HOW TO PAY

Upon receiving an offer from us by email, a deposit of S$800 (non-refundable) for both local and international students is required to indicate your acceptance of this offer.

Once you receive a pre-programme booklet, a payment of the remaining tuition fee (S$800) and accommodation fee (S$600) if applicable, must be completed. Payment can be completed either via Option 1 or Option 2.
