Aerospace Engineering does more than the design and building of airplanes. Modern aviation has evolved to a stage where unmanned aerial vehicles such as drones have become a part of “flying things”. As an Aerospace Engineer, you have the possibility to work in these areas:
• Design and testing of commercial aircraft, military aircraft and aviation defense systems
• Research on spacecraft and missiles
• Design and testing of unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes (defense to commercial uses)
• Helicopter design
• Research on new innovative designs for aircraft to improve flight controls and increase stability
Aerospace Engineers may also choose to pursue other interests, such as satellite communications systems, space travel, wing suits and more.
As Germany’s leading technical university, our quest is to harness the power of Science and Engineering to build a better future for mankind. Here are some facts about Engineering at our institute:
• Ranked #1 in Engineering (QS Rankings 2015 and ARWU 2015)
• Ranked 17th worldwide for Engineering
• Current research includes projects like Brainflight and Lightweight structures on airplanes
