Every year, TUM Global Week offers an interactive exchange platform on international experiences and cooperations as well as current global topics for the entire TUM family. Through information events, panel discussions, workshops and more, students, doctoral candidates, scientists, administrative staff, alumni and partners can discover the global opportunities and activities of TUM, engage themselves and thus actively shape the expansion of TUM’s internationalisation.

Register for our TUM Global Week event: Applying Sustainable Development to Transportation Systems where Dr.-Ing. Andreas Rau will discuss the different approaches and definitions of Sustainable Development.

Sustainable Development is a concept used with many meanings in almost all parts of our society and economy, but it is challenging to define it precisely. Herman E. Daly, in his publication “Beyond Growth” stated “Sustainable Development is a term that everyone likes, but nobody is sure of what it means. At least it sounds better than unsustainable nondevelopment.” This statement of course is playing with words, but it also shows the problem of using the concept in the real world.
