OVERVIEW

The Technical University of Munich Asia (TUM Asia) commenced operations in Singapore in 2002 as a branch campus subsidiary of the Technische Universität München (TUM) which is ranked as the #1 University in Germany. To foster a closer partnership between education and manufacturing industries, TUM Asia has partnered Festo Didactic who is the world-leading provider of equipment and solutions for technical education to launch Singapore’s 1st Industry 4.0 Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing (ADM).

 

Under the direct guidance of German experts who are key drivers of Industrie 4.0, the Specialist Diploma in ADM equips participants with relevant Industrie 4.0 knowledge and skills as well as hands-on experience with Industrie 4.0 training equipment to prepare them for more complex job roles to meet new technological challenges in the Advanced Manufacturing Industry. Participants will also receive expert mentorship to create and implement a digital transformation blueprint for their business to improve productivity and transform their operations.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Participants will be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing upon successful completion of both of the following Post-Diploma Certificates. Each Post-Diploma Certificate comprises of three individual modules.

Essentials of Advanced Manufacturing Systems

Course Objectives

This module provides an overview on the essentials of advanced manufacturing systems which involve more effective use of technology, management systems, production techniques and processes.

 

Course Content

  • Understand core elements of Industry 4.0 and their applications
  • Appreciate the benefits of flexibility, versatility, modularity and decentralization of production control system in manufacturing
  • Understand underlying concepts in vertical and horizontal integration

Manufacturing Management

Course Objectives

This module aims to equip modern manufacturing professionals with deep insight on effective organization of manufacturing processes within companies.

 

Course Content

  • Utilize lean manufacturing system in Industry 4.0
  • Perform value added analysis in the manufacturing line
  • Implement production planning and control in Industry 4.0
  • Monitoring, routing & parameterizing of production orders
  • Plan material flow and batch size production
  • Utilize information of product and production processes data to value-add to the process streams and for supply chain management
  • Implement Energy Monitoring & Smart Maintenance in the manufacturing line
  • Set up Qualification Matrix
  • Manpower competencies requirement for the future of manufacturing industry 4.0

Advanced Manufacturing Project

Course Objectives

This will be in partnership with Festo Didactic to provide a project setting for course participants to apply knowledge and skills acquired in the two theoretical modules: Essentials of Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Manufacturing Management.

 

Course Content

Participants will get to use FESTO Industrie 4.0 training equipment to implement projects.

Cyber Physical Systems

Course Objectives

This module trains participants to understand and apply software development approaches for development of cyber production systems. Model-based approaches will be presented especially in aspects such as modularity, variants and versions.

 

Course Content

  • Understand concepts underlying interaction between physical systems and their interactions with software and electronic systems
  • Manage certification of industrial systems and issues on proactive maintenance
  • Manage innovation cycles and maintain consistency across design flows
  • Carry out systems modelling, controller design and analysis
  • Implement computation and communication platform architectures for automation
  • Implement control strategies on distributed IT platforms
  • Quantify the semantic gap between plant and controller models
  • Automated synthesis of embedded control systems
  • Design smart, adaptive and flexible manufacturing systems for fault tolerance, innovation management and flexible production

Industrial Internet of Things

Course Objectives

This module covers various aspects of IoT which include sensing, actuation, processing, and communication, that lead to development of skills and experiences employed in designing novel Industrial IoT systems.

 

Course Content

  • Understand underlying concepts of Internet of Things and their applications
  • Design architecture and system of IoT
  • Apply design principles for connected devices
  • Ability to build interactive systems, using a combination of hardware and software that can sense and respond intelligently to inputs
  • Design and develop smart IoT applications to improve productivity

Digital Manufacturing Project

Course Objectives

This will be in partnership with Festo Didactic to provide a project setting for course participants to apply knowledge and skills acquired in the two theoretical modules: Cyber Physical Systems and Industrial Internet of Things.

 

Course Content

Participants will get to use FESTO Industrie 4.0 training equipment for project implementation.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor’s degree (or higher), OR a relevant polytechnic diploma with at least 2 years of related working experience

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered based on:

(i) Evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience; OR

(ii) Supporting evidence of competency readiness

CERTIFICATION

Participants will be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing upon successful completion of both of the following Post-Diploma Certificates:

 

Post Diploma Certificate 1: Advanced Manufacturing

  • Essentials of Advanced Manufacturing Systems (Theoretical Module)
  • Manufacturing Management (Theoretical Module)
  • Advanced Manufacturing Project (Project Module)

 

Post Diploma Certificate 2: Digital Manufacturing

  • Cyber Physical Systems (Theoretical Module)
  • Industrial Internet of Things (Theoretical Module)
  • Digital Manufacturing Project (Project Module)

All Theoretical and Project Modules: SGD 18,000 (Before 8% GST)
Per Theoretical Module: SGD 3,000 (Before 8% GST)

As per the announcement by the Ministry of Finance during Budget 2022, the GST rate will be adjusted to 8% with starting from 1 January 2023 and 9% with starting from 1 January 2024.

POST-DIPLOMA MENTORSHIP

Following the completion of the Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing, course participants are encouraged to embark on an optional 12-month Post Specialist Diploma Project at their respective companies under the mentorship of our pool of experts.

 

The following conditions apply:

  • The projects’ outcomes should contribute towards productivity improvement at the companies;
  • Up to 90% of fees (excluding GST) per Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) subject to a cap of SGD 20,700 per company;
  • Up to 70% of fees (excluding GST) per non-SME subject to a cap of SGD 16,100 per company;
  • Each company is eligible to the mentorship support grant of one project per company.
