It served as a platform for German delegates to present their technology and exchange information on the manufacturing environment of Singapore with local experts.<\/p>\n<p>During the symposium, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)\u2019s School of Engineering and the Singapore campus of Germany\u2019s top engineering university \u2013 Technical University of Munich (TUM), was signed with the objective to raise global engineering standards. One of the scopes includes the research on process optimisation in 3D metal printing. Findings for the advanced technology will benefit users worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was witnessed by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development &amp; Ministry of Trade and Industry. Students and staff from both institutes will have opportunities for exchange programmes. The partners are also planning executive training courses, seminars and conferences for industry.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Jeanne Liew, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Nanyang Polytechnic, said, \u201cNanyang Polytechnic is proud to be working with TUM Asia \u2013 a renowned global institution that shares our values for excellence and innovation. This collaboration facilitates the acquisition of deeper skills in engineering and prepares our students to meet future challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Markus W\u00e4chter, Managing Director, TUM Asia said, \u201cGermany and Singapore have a long-standing relationship in trade and are committed to technology transfer at the highest level.
