The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is expanding its activities in China. It has opened the TUM Shenzhen Liaison Office, addressing the highly innovative region of Shenzhen. This marks another milestone in the long-standing flagship partnership with Tsinghua University and its campuses in Beijing and Shenzhen. TUM already operate an official Office in Beijing. The new office is managed by TUM Asia, TUM\u2019s subsidiary in Singapore.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Based at the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS), the new office will serve as a central hub to strengthen the strategic collaboration with Tsinghua University, one of TUM\u2019s strategic flagship partners.<\/p>

TUM Executive Vice President, Prof. Juliane Winkelmann, emphasized at the opening ceremony in Shenzhen: \u201cWith the launch of this new office, we are strengthening our presence in one of China\u2019s most dynamic innovation ecosystems. Shenzhen is a place where research, technology, and entrepreneurship meet at an extraordinary pace \u2013 and we are proud to build a bridge here that will support joint research, exchange, and talent development.\u201d<\/p>

TUM Shenzhen will play a pivotal role in facilitating joint research initiatives and expanding strategic partnerships with industry and academia across the region. The office is to open new pathways for student mobility, research collaboration, and cross-border partnerships connecting China, Munich, and Singapore.<\/p>

Empowering students, researchers, and industry<\/strong><\/p><\/header>

\u201cThis office represents not only a physical space, but also a shared vision: to create a dynamic platform that connects talents, ideas, and innovation across China and Southeast Asia,\u201d said Dr. Markus W\u00e4chter, TUM Vice President and Executive Director TUM Asia. \u201cThrough this initiative, we aim to empower our students, alumni, and partners to engage meaningfully in shaping the next generation of global thinkers and innovators.\u201d<\/p>

Based on long years of institutional cooperation, Tsinghua and TUM formed a strategic flagship partnership in 2020. Over the past five years, it has fostered numerous research exchanges, joint projects, and talent development initiatives, continuing a legacy of academic cooperation that spans more than three decades.<\/p>
