From an early interest in mathematics and science, Zhiang found his way to chemistry through a natural progression of curiosity and aptitude. With a solid foundation in applied chemistry and particular strengths in inorganic chemistry, the decision to pursue advanced studies felt inevitable.<\/p>

“Obtaining a master’s or even a PhD degree has always been my constant goal,” he shares, reflecting on his educational journey.<\/p>

What drew him specifically to TUM Asia’s programme was its distinctive emphasis on practical industrial applications. The curriculum’s structure\u2014offering core modules in four advanced chemical areas while providing flexibility in elective courses\u2014aligned perfectly with his ambitions.<\/p>

“When I saw the course content focusing on practical industrial applications and the opportunity to study in Germany, I knew this programme was perfect for me,” Zhiang recalls. “It combines my passion for hands-on chemistry with the chance to gain international experience.”<\/p>

“The DAAD scholarship has led me to Germany’s top-tier education and research opportunities,” he explains. “It has also given me a confidence boost, knowing my efforts are recognised.”<\/p>

Zhiang colourfully describes the scholarship as an “open sesame,” unlocking networking opportunities with leading experts and significantly enhancing both academic and career prospects. For many international students, such scholarships make the difference between aspiration and achievement.<\/p>

Bringing Theory to Life: The TUM Asia Experience<\/strong><\/p>

What sets TUM Asia’s Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry<\/strong><\/a> apart, according to Zhiang, is the seamless integration of laboratory courses with core theoretical modules.<\/p>

“One of the most memorable studies in this programme is the material chemistry lecture,” he shares. “We had an experiment about concrete. In that experiment, we first optimised the ratio of water and binder and moulded it. I realised the characteristic of this programme\u2014that is, taking theory into practical application.”<\/p>

This hands-on approach extends beyond the laboratory. The programme includes valuable industry connections, with visits to leading companies like Siemens and Evonik providing real-world context to classroom learning.<\/p>

Laboratory Skills: Building Professional Foundations<\/strong><\/p>

When asked about the most valuable skills gained from the programme, Zhiang emphasises the practical laboratory techniques that will serve him throughout his career.<\/p>

“The specific skills I believe will be most valuable in my career are those gained from the lab courses in this programme. For example, the professional use of Schlenk lines is a common and highly practical skill in the lab.”<\/p>

These technical abilities, combined with theoretical knowledge, create a powerful foundation for future work in both academic and industrial environments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“Five years after graduation, I envision myself as a PhD in the field of chemistry, specialising in novel materials,” he shares with conviction. “By focusing on advanced materials, I plan to expand opportunities in academia or industry, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to push the boundaries of material science and create a lasting impact for a sustainable and clean future.”<\/p>

This forward-looking perspective demonstrates how TUM Asia creates not just graduates, but future innovators poised to address global challenges.<\/p>
