World-leading equipment and solution provider for industrial education, Festo Didactic, joined hands with the Asian campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2016 to develop education activities for students and employees interested in upskilling themselves in the areas of Automation Technology and Industrie 4.0 (Industry 4.0) in Singapore.<\/p>\n

The jointly-developed Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing recently completed its first successful training cycle, training more than 20 students who come from a spectrum of vocational roles and across a range of industries – from electronics to chemicals and aerospace \u2013 with funding support from SkillsFuture Singapore.<\/p>\n

Following the success of the first Industry 4.0 training programme, Festo Didactic and TUM Asia announced their intent to intensify the educational partnership in the next months – with plans to increase the number of joint programmes both locally and in the region as well as offer consultancy services to the industry. This announcement was made by Professor Wolfgang A. Herrmann, President of TUM, at the Singapore reception celebrating the 150th birthday of the Technical University of Munich.<\/p>\n

On the Festo Didactic and TUM Asia partnership, Professor Herrmann remarked that the joining of hands of the industry with the university is a model that the TUM has always believed in. \u201cOne of the achievements of the 150 years of TUM is the ability to set-up a campus in Asia. The 15 years in Singapore allowed us to blend academic expertise from Germany with Singapore\u2019s excellent economic structure to provide a unique course offering, and I am delighted to see TUM Asia develop partnerships with strong industry partners such as Festo as we continuously seek innovation,\u201d added Professor Herrmann.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe excellent performance of our cooperation in Singapore and the encouraging response from participants drives us to intensify our joint activities. It is important that the industry has comprehensive training and consultancy to master digital transformation successfully. As more countries are focusing on Industry 4.0, we are convinced that we should rapidly widen the training offered in Singapore and the region.\u201d said Mr. Volker Schmid, Head of Asia Pacific, Festo Didactic SE.<\/p>\n

Festo Didactic will continue to support the practical module teaching in the Specialist Diploma in Advanced Digital Manufacturing offered at TUM Asia, which gives participants an immersive hands-on experience with Festo training equipment such as the MPS-D i4.0 and the Cyber Physical (CP) Factory.
