The manufacturing industry functions with embedded systems, which involves gathering and transferring data. With Industry 4.0, it fuses the internet and factories together, allowing them to be interlinked at every step of the way. The Industry 4.0 factory of the future takes things one step further with a centralised computer organising the intelligent networking of the subsystems into cyber-physical systems (CPS), working with increasing independence. Humans and machines work increasingly well together, with the humans defining the requirements and specifics required to be done, while the processes occurs autonomously with the machines.  

Germany is renowned in being market leaders in various technology and engineering industries. These industries have contributed to Germany’s high international standards in science, research and application. The German manufacturing industry is renown for creating new solutions for the industry’s challenges. This enables them to adopt the Industry 4.0 technologies rapidly and efficiently.  

The transformation of the industry involves optimising production tools and processes, and may involve a lot of organisational changes and skills training of working professionals. However in the long run, it allows manufacturers to increase efficiency, improve diversity, and speed up production effectively.
