eCarTec Awards 2014: TUM CREATE come out tops at Germany’s largest trade fair for EVs

Munich, 21. October 2014: TUM CREATE emerged as a winner at the Forum of the eCarTec Munich 2014 Electric Mobility Trade Fair, Germany’s largest trade fair for Electric Vehicle. At eCarTec 2014, Assistant Secretary Dr. Bernhard Schwab – Office Chief of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology – in representation of Bavarian`s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology Ilse Aigner, together with the moderator Jan Stecker and the organizer of eCarTec Munich Robert Metzger, handed in the eCarTec Award as the Bavarian State Award for electric mobility.
The prize was awarded this year in the six categories “Electric Vehicle” , “Energy & Infrastructure”, “Energy Storage”, “Powertrain & Electronics”, “Product Concept / Vision” and “Sustainable Mobility Concept” and comes with 10,000 EUR prize per category .
TUM CREATE was announced as the winner for the “Product Concept/Vision” category, coming out tops for its revolutionary concept on EVA, the first electric taxi that was designed and built for tropical megacities. TUM CREATE is the only winner that has its base outside of German soil, since it is a daughter group of Technische Universitaet Muenchen’s (TUM) Singapore branch campus – TUM Asia – in 2010. TUM CREATE is funded by the National Research Foundation Singapore, and is a joint partnership between TUM and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
“Electric mobility is one of the major subjects of our time. With the Bavarian electric mobility strategy, the state government wants to expand the leading role of the Economic- and Technological reputation of Bavaria and to further develop Electric Mobility as a pioneering and environmentally friendly technology. Therefore, the eCarTec Award will be offered this year too, as the Bavarian State Award for electric mobility”, said Assistant Secretary of State Dr. Bernhard Schwab.

- The winner in the category “Product Concept/Vision”: EVA – Electrical Taxi Concept – TUM Create – Research Center
- Winner in the category “Sustainable Mobility Concepts”: intercharge – Hubject GmbH
