The Technical University of Munich Asia (TUM Asia) has partnered The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to host a 1.5 Day Research Symposium in Singapore with the theme “INDUSTRIE 4.0: Towards the Future of Manufacturing” from 1st – 2nd November 2016. This event is jointly supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Industrie 4.0 Revolution that sparked off in Europe has already made its waves into the shores of Singapore – where integrated computing, networking and physical processes are revolutionising manufacturing. This topic has headlined many discussions for both the threats and opportunities it presents.
The push towards Industrie 4.0 in Singapore is set to build on the strides that the nation has taken as part of its Smart Nation initiative. Moving forward, it is imperative that the Singapore Government spearhead the scale up of the information and communications technology infrastructure so that it is able to support the industrial devices that will connect to the global Industrial Internet of Things (IoT).
At the Government, Industry and Academic level, we hope to help deepen the understanding of Industrie 4.0 and its implications for policies, businesses and research so as to be ready to adopt and leverage on the new technologies to their advantage. We hope to provide an avenue to pioneer and intensify the private- and public-sector partnerships to support innovation and bring such technological breakthroughs to fruition.
Some of the topics featured in this Symposium include:
- Advanced Manufacturing Technologies
- Cyber-Physical Production Systems
- Industrial Internet of Things (IoT)
